Travel Stories
I love travelling. I travel light, cheap and with minimal planning. I go to places with interesting cultures (i.e. different) so I can soak them up. I’m over tourist traps (pointy things generally) and would rather sit outside a bar with a beer and watch the locals go about their business.
Here are some of my stories from around the world…

My plan at this time was to spend a few weeks in Xela before going to Cuba with Chris then back home. As usual it didn't happen that way. I arrived feeling ill, and was on and of with a cold all my time here. Xela is in the mountains and I was here for rainy season so it was cold and wet. A big change from before where the problem was hydration and sun stroke. I have to say even in Xela people were wondering why I did not have a tan from traveling down south, I have two colours, white and red.

I'd been down to Panama for the carnival in Las Tablas where I spent 4 hectic days with Jeff a friend from my old job in Maidenhead, and other travelers, drinking, dancing, doing the conga and watching parades. The town was split into two parts for the week each with their own queens and a rivalry shown in water pistol fights. Half of panama was in the town, shown by the lack of water for toilets but not for water fights which were fueled by massive water trucks with water canons. After that we headed to the north Caribbean coastal islands of Bocas Del Toro then over to Costa Rica. Here I lost Jeff after a little escapade in Manzanillo, a small beach village.

Hola todos, San Jose
My last story ended as I was about to set of from Managua to Costa Rica, an appropriate name for a place as the change from the Nicaraguan tourist system (cheep) to Costa Rica's, $20 to do anything was a bit of a shock. I first hit San Jose which I liked as it had that European feel. They all new English and it had a town centre shopping area with all the usual shops (shoe shops of course). Fortuna

I planned to stay in Leon for two to three days, but after a lunchtime bottle of wine I met Jean, a tall, Swiss, aging hippy dressed in white and a panama hat. That day I ended up joining his "project" and working for him in his travelers restaurant bar 'Cosmo' for free accommodation food and cheap beer - Perfect.
